Reflection # 9
This is the most important part of our class, for me it is interesting because we can see that God had his own plan in the Philippines, and I am so proud of that because I am a Filipino myself. but before it happened in the Philippines, it started in the United States, the Baptist Methodist grew rapidly in this frontier area. but before the American missionary came, we have now some religions existed in the country, the Muslims and the Roman Catholic of course, because we are invade by the Spanish for how many years, because the Catholic Church are related to the Spanish, they introduced to us, that Pagan practices, though before that we an animist, I understand now that, the country and religion are religion have a great role at that time. But good thing God intercede.
It is sad to look back that the Catholic Church was rich at that time but the Filipinos are poor, some priest are oppressive, they failed to educate us, we have no knowledge about the bible, they claim as a Christian nation but no real conception of Christianity. They taught many things that will not found in the Bible.
But praise the Lord in 1900's true Christianity arrive in the Philippines, not only Christian by name but by heart and in practice many American mission group acme to the Philippines through medical help and many ministries, then the Gospel spread through the whole Island of the Philippines.
It is a wonderful thing to think that I am one of the result of those effort, God really works in amazing way, because at that time, God sent missionaries from the outside but now, many Filipinos are already ministering to their fellow Filipino, and not only that Philippines is one of the country that sent missionary to the unreach place.

Reflection # 8
In the time of modernism, God did a mighty works because modernism begin, then we can see the result that we have now the authority of the Scripture alone, I am be proud that this result of their hard work in the past we benefited the teaching on how to be true to the correct teaching of the Scripture, we have also the faith alone belief, we understand better this teaching of the scripture through their help, we did not depend on the good works we have, but in contrast we do good works because we are already save, also we have the teaching on the priesthood of the believers, the Apostle Paul remind me that he taught us that we can directed communicate to God, without the priest to intercede, we received that privileged through faith in Christ.
One of the important part of the church history was the redeeming work of Christ through missions, we know some well known missionaries by this time like William Carey, he totally surrender his life, to become a missionary in India. through the willingness of these people in the past the Gospel spread through out the world, and and our country the Philippines are one of the places that God reach through the work of our missionaries.
This topic was struck my attention because personally God put that burden in my heart to become part of this work, to go to the places were many people did not hear about our Lord Jesus Christ, for me this is a privileged to serve others by leading them to the truth the teach in the Bible. This is not only my heart, but in fact God prepared me and trained me to this kind of ministry, so I affirmed that after my graduation I will be serving God in missions.

Reflection # 7
There are many conflict happens between the Roman Catholic and the protestant, when the Protestant work hard to achieve reformation, the Roman Catholic Church also established the Council of Trent, they counter the teaching of the protestant that say's teaching Justification by faith alone is condemned as a heresy. when I am living in these stage I think will be confused, but good thing the Bible taught us that Salvation s by grace alone, that's what the Bible say's, but I think they use it, to threatened their members not to leave the Church. I think this is not a good way, because forcing people by made them scared is the the way that Jesus did, in fact he never force people to follow him, he want them to decide in their own.
They taught people that sacrament is very important to gain salvation, and they reject the teaching on assurance of salvation, they made the salvation complicated, their teaching was not helping people to get closer to God in fact their teaching lead people astray from the truth. Also we cannot deny that Jesus said, that if we are in Christ no one can snatch us from His Father's hand how come that the rejected this important truth?

Reformation continued in England, and I believe that God using people to fulfill his own purpose, like what happened to the reformation in England, he used king Henry VIII have a reformation against the Roman Catholic Church, because of his desire to have a son, that a very simple thing if we try to think but God used that because the Roman Catholic Church did not allow the king marry another women, it happened he used his power in order to be separate from the the Roman empire. It help the government not to become under the authority of the pope, in the other term, we can have the separation of the church and state. and we receive that kind of situation here in the Philippines, we have the freedom of religion because our constitution said that we the separation of church and the state. but as I was observe, I see the problem that we cannot practice that law. you know why? the Roman Catholic Church still hold the government that have a big role in the government, and also our Filipino people did not understand that law. why i can say that? it is because of our practices, we can see that in many government office we can see many images of Santo Nino, in fact that is not allowed, and why the Catholic church did not permitted that the other evangelical churches share the Gospel, see that was the evidences that we did not practice that law.

Reflection # 5
When we talk about reformation in the history of the church we need to look back the time of Martin Luther, I know that there are many minor reformation that had happened before his time, but we can see a major events of reformation in Luther's time. Martin who though grew as a Roman Catholic God used him to see the the need of the Biblical teaching to be reform against the Roman Catholic church, as we can remember the roman church used the Church as a way to gain money through indulgences, then Martin saw that problem in the church, then he try to correct that mistakes by writing the 95 thesis to oppose that teaching , but sad to say the church called him as a heretics. this time was a dangerous situation to go against the Church because if you do, you will gonna face the Pope and even being excommunicated, but Luther stand on the ground on what is the truth that the Scripture was teaching. Even in our times we can still see the evidences of that practices that taught by our Roman Catholic brothers, they still claim on the teaching that outside the Roman Catholic Church there is no salvation, then Luther understand that salvation is by grace through faith not by being a member of any church. I am so thankful personally because God used those people the Luther to maintain the orthodox teaching of the Bible, and we have that benefits for today, they are the reason why we have the doctrines of the Bible alone, and salvation by grace that we claim today. Luther was one of many people that God used in the past to help the Christianity being preserve. God also used Erasmus to help the reform, then Anabaptist and the Radicals also contributed to enlighten the reformation.

At this point of time in the history are called dark times because of the bad effect the bring by the crusades, these is a bloody war against the Muslim and the Roman catholic church, it sounds good because they want to get the control from the Muslims but behind the scene the Roman Catholic Church have a hidden agenda why they want to invade Jerusalem. and it is sad because most of the people they killed are not only Muslims in fact some of them are Christians, the ruin their fields and rape their woman and wife.
On the other as a believers of Christ who follow the Biblical teaching we believe that the church is the body of Christ. the person who accepted the Lord Jesus with all their hearts. In these time of history the church experienced a difficult situations but God in His wisdom and divine providence help His church to thrive in in the dark times of history. God preserve not literally the church building as what the Filipinos think about these days, but it is clear through the evidences in the past that God actually preserves the people whom he choose to become part of His body. God enable the church to thrive even though some leaders in the past are cruel, because God's church cannot stop by the evil leaders. they continue to follow the orthodox teaching of the Scripture even though sometimes they are being hindered by the leaders, even in the church or the government. they choose to obey the Scripture and ignored the command of the leaders.

This is very important to remember in the part of history because this is the time that the council take an action to counter the new teaching and doctrines that contradict to what the Bible really say's. This time the church Fathers determine the core Christian doctrine, good thing through this councils we our systematic theology right now as a result of their hard work in the past. as far as i have remembered we have the Jerusalem council to counter the error of the Judaizers, and we have the Apostles creed who protect the orthodox teaching the Father is the Creator and Jesus Christ is really born in the flesh, suffered, died and resurrected in bodily form, then we also the Council of Nicea the purpose of this is to counter the heresy of Arius, the church Father defend that Christ is fully human and fully divine. lastly at A.D 381 the Council of Constantinopole this council is to counter the heresy of Apolinarius. I am thankful to these councils in the past because personally I appreciate their faith and effort in order to maintain and keep the teaching of the Scripture from any wrong teachings.
